Born in Sydney, David began his musical training with piano and organ studies. He won a scholarship to study the organ with David Rumsey at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he completed a Bachelor of Music degree with first class honours in 1997. A keen interest in 17 and 18 century music led David to post-graduate studies at the renowned Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel, Switzerland, where he studied organ with Jean-Claude Zehnder, harpsicord with Andrea Marcon and improvisation with Rudolf Lutz, completing a post-graduate performance diploma with high distinction in 2002. In September 2001 David was a prize winner of the prestigious Innsbruck International Organ Competition. Living in Basel, David has established a lively international career as a soloist, ensemble musician and accompanist, appearing in major festivals, theatres, and churches throughout the continent. He is a founding member of the ensemble “Le Jardin Secret” which won the York International Young Artists Award in 2007 and a member of the Basel based ensemble “Capricornus”. He has a great interest in opera and has worked as musical assistant and coach in numerous productions. David appears regularly as a recital accompanist for singers as a harpsichordist, pianist and organist and has recorded extensively for CD and radio productions as a soloist and ensemble musician. He is currently the musical coach of the singing class at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis.
