Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel

Library

Vera Oeri Library of the Music Academy  (opened Fall 2009)
The library of the Music Academy serves the needs of all the departments of the Music Academy.  It has become the largest collection of music in Switzerland, including much literature (primary and secondary) important for studies in Early Music.

Further information about the library >> here >>

The entire collection can be seen in the united catalogue IDS Basel/Bern
(http://aleph.unibas.ch).  The other large music collections in Basel - at the University Library, the Musicology Institute, and the Sacher Foundation - are also listed here. By adding ‘mab’ to your search, you can limit the results to the holdings of the MAB / SCB.

Some research sources are limited to the reading room and may not be taken out of the building.

There is a large collection of CDs, an audio center with equipment for copying CDs, audio tapes and records; a photocopying center, connections for Internet and PC, and work space for students.

Microfilm archive
The SCB has a large collection of unpublished material on microfilm.
For all questions or suggestions for new acquisitions please see Kathrin Menzel (Room 16).

To borrow microfilms see Kathrin Menzel (Room 16, Monday - Thursday).

Microfilms may be borrowed for a short time only. Users sign a statement agreeing to respect the regulations of the libraries from which the sources come with respect to copying material, use in concerts or publications.

The EDV catalogue of the microfilm archive can be accessed only from stations within the Music Academy.  The Musicology Institute of the University also has an extensive collection of microfilms.
